Diet and weight loss frequently asked questions

Dr. Robert Portman, Chief Scientific Officer of PacificHealth Laboratories and creator of Satiatrim, answers questions about the science, the most effective use and other aspects of this innovative new product.

What is Satiatrim?

Satiatrim is the first diet product that activates your body's normal appetite control mechanism to slow the movement of food from your stomach. When you drink a 50-calorie Satiatrim before you eat, you will be able to eat less and still feel full, and you will stay hunger-free between meals. Satiatrim contains a patented nutritional formulation that clinical studies show:

  • Decreases food intake by 20%
  • Decreases the feeling of hunger for up to four hours after eating
  • Increases fat burning over a 24-hour period.

How does Satiatrim work?

Satiatrim causes the body to release cholecystokinin (CCK), an important satiety protein that is sometimes referred to as the "feel-full" protein. The primary action of CCK is to close down the valve from the stomach to the GI tract, slowing the movement of food from the stomach. When food stays in the stomach longer you feel fuller for extended periods of time. By activating the feel-full protein, Satiatrim slows the movement of food from the stomach and extends the feeling of fullness for up to four hours after a meal.

Is there scientific proof that the "feel-full" protein is effective?

Yes. The original research on CCK, the feel-full protein, was conducted at Cornell and Columbia universities over 40 years ago. Scientists purified CCK, injected it into humans and found that the subjects ate much less. They also discovered that CCK produced this effect by closing the valve between the stomach and the GI tract. By slowing the passage of food from the stomach, CCK creates a feeling of fullness. Additionally, CCK acts in the appetite centers of the brain to extend the feeling of satiety. Since this early work, thousands of published research papers have confirmed and further revealed the effect of CCK on fullness, or satiety.

How much caffeine is one 8 oz. serving of Satiatrim ?

One 8 oz. serving of Satiatrim contains caffeine equal to one cup of coffee.

How many studies have been conducted with Satiatrim?

We have conducted more than 15 clinical studies measuring the effect of Satiatrim on caloric intake, on the movement of food from the stomach and on the duration of the feeling of fullness after a meal. These studies have shown that Satiatrim reduces food intake by up to 20%, slows the movement of food from the stomach up to 66%, and extends the feeling of fullness for up to four hours after a meal. We have also shown that Satiatrim stimulates the body's principal feel-full protein, cholecystokinin (CCK).

How is Satiatrim different from the thousands of other diet products currently on the market?

It is the only product that works in your stomach, where the feeling of fullness begins. Most diet products that suppress appetite work on the brain. Intuitively we know that fullness, or satiety, begins in the stomach. Think of how your stomach feels after you've eaten a large meal. Diet products that act on the brain give you a false sense of fullness. Unfortunately, you cannot fool your body forever, and therefore these products eventually lose their effectiveness.

Satiatrim is the first diet aid that uses a patented formula of natural ingredients to activate your body's normal appetite control mechanism. Satiatrim is so revolutionary it has five U.S. patents with additional patents pending.

How can Satiatrim end diet failure?

Starting a diet is usually not a problem for most people. But staying on a diet is another matter. Almost one-third of Americans are on a diet at any given time. However, the average weight-loss diet lasts less than three weeks, and some individuals go on diets four to six times per year. Each time they lose weight, but not enough to get down to their goal weight.

The top reasons that diets fail are lack of willpower, loss of motivation and hunger. Satiatrim addresses the principal causes of diet failure. With Satiatrim you feel fuller, or satiated, even though you are eating less and you are not limited in the types of food you can eat. Satiatrim is like willpower in a glass. It makes any diet or diet plan work better by making it easy to stay on it until you achieve your goal weight.

How should I use Satiatrim?

For optimum results, use Satiatrim before you eat. Consume one 8-ounce serving of Satiatrim before breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. You may also take Satiatrim before a midmorning snack and/or an evening snack.

How soon will I feel the effects of Satiatrim?

Because Satiatrim activates the body's normal appetite control mechanism you will feel the effects of Satiatrim the first time you use it. Drinking Satiatrim before a meal will make you feel fuller even though you are eating less and you will stay hunger-free between meals.

How can I maximize the effectiveness of Satiatrim?

The most effective way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise. But eating less is often very difficult. Although Satiatrim will reduce your appetite, making it easier to eat less, it is important that you use it with a reduced-calorie diet. To make cutting calories hassle-free, we have created the Satiatrim Success Plan, that offers you a wide variety of foods you can prepare or easily purchase. The Satiatrim Success Plan allows you to eat many of your favorite foods, and even includes fast foods and snacks.

Can Satiatrim be used with other diet plans?

A major benefit of Satiatrim is that it can be used to enhance the effectiveness of any diet. Whether you are on a portion-controlled diet such as NutriSystem, Jenny Craig, or Medifast, or a low-carb diet such as South Beach or The Zone, adding Satiatrim will make the diet more effective by diminishing your appetite so you feel satisfied even though you are eating less. Satiatrim will also keep you hunger-free between meals so you snack less and it will even help you burn more fat calories. Satiatrim is an ideal complement to any weight-loss diet—even if you designed it yourself.
